Ship Security Training Course
Training Course Objectives:
By the end of this Ship Security training course, delegates will be able to:
- Understand the principles and objectives of maritime security, with emphasis on shipboard operations.
- Familiarize with the requirements of the ISPS Code, SOLAS Chapter XI-2, and related international regulations.
- Identify different types of security threats to ships, including piracy, terrorism, stowaways, smuggling, and cyber threats.
- Recognize the roles and responsibilities of key personnel, including the Company Security Officer (CSO), Ship Security Officer (SSO), and Port Facility Security Officer (PFSO).
- Conduct ship security assessments (SSA) to identify vulnerabilities and implement appropriate countermeasures.
- Develop, implement, and maintain a Ship Security Plan (SSP) in line with regulatory requirements.
- Apply effective access control measures to prevent unauthorized boarding and tampering.
- Monitor restricted areas and conduct security patrols, using surveillance systems and physical inspections.
- Respond to security incidents and emergencies, including drills for bomb threats, hijackings, and suspicious packages.
- Understand ship security levels (1, 2, and 3) and the actions required at each level.
- Maintain records, reports, and logs required for inspections, audits, and compliance checks.
- Promote a security-conscious culture on board, through training, awareness, and crew cooperation.
