Shipboard Energy Management Training Course
Training Course Objectives:
By the end of this Shipboard Energy Management training course, delegates will be able to:
- Understand the principles of energy efficiency in ship operations and the importance of energy management in maritime sustainability.
- Familiarize with international regulations and guidelines, including MARPOL Annex VI, SEEMP (Ship Energy Efficiency Management Plan), EEDI, and EEXI requirements.
- Identify major energy consumers on board ships, such as main engines, auxiliary machinery, HVAC, and lighting systems.
- Apply techniques for monitoring and measuring energy consumption, including fuel performance monitoring and energy audits.
- Implement operational best practices to optimize fuel efficiency, such as voyage planning, speed optimization, and hull maintenance.
- Use onboard technologies and automation systems to support energy efficiency and real-time performance tracking.
- Understand the role of alternative fuels and propulsion systems, such as LNG, methanol, biofuels, hybrid and electric systems.
- Analyze the impact of hull design, propeller performance, and weather routing on energy usage and emissions.
- Develop and implement an effective Ship Energy Efficiency Management Plan (SEEMP) tailored to specific vessel operations.
- Promote crew awareness and behavioral change, encouraging energy-conscious practices among all shipboard personnel.
- Assess and reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from shipboard activities in line with IMO decarbonization targets.
- Prepare for inspections, audits, and reporting obligations related to energy and environmental compliance.
