Tanker Operations Training Course
Training Course Objectives:
By the end of this Tanker Operations training course, delegates will be able to:
- Understand Tanker Types and Their Characteristics : Gain knowledge of different tanker vessels (crude oil, product, chemical, LNG/LPG tankers) and their design and operational features.
- Learn Cargo Handling Procedures : Understand safe and efficient loading, discharging, stripping, ballasting, and tank cleaning operations.
- Apply International Safety and Environmental Standards : Comply with MARPOL, SOLAS, ISGOTT, STCW, and other IMO regulations relevant to tanker operations.
- Manage Tanker Equipment and Systems : Operate and maintain cargo pumps, inert gas systems, vapor recovery systems, and tank monitoring tools.
- Implement Safety Protocols and Emergency Procedures : Prepare for emergency scenarios such as oil spills, fire, gas leaks, or cargo contamination with drills and contingency plans.
- Conduct Pre-Loading and Pre-Discharge Inspections : Perform tank inspections, line testing, and safety checks before cargo operations to ensure readiness.
- Understand Ship-Shore Interface and Communication : Coordinate effectively with terminals, cargo surveyors, and port authorities during cargo transfer.
- Apply Principles of Stability and Cargo Calculations : Ensure vessel stability and perform accurate cargo quantity calculations including ullage, trim, and temperature corrections.
- Manage Documentation and Regulatory Compliance : Handle documentation such as cargo manifests, safety checklists, certificates, and oil record books.
- Promote Risk Management and Operational Efficiency : Identify operational risks and implement best practices to improve tanker safety, efficiency, and turnaround time.
