Telecommunications and Wide Area Networking (WAN) Training Course
Training Course Objectives:
By the end of this Telecommunications and Wide Area Networking (WAN) training course, delegates will be able to:
- Understand the fundamentals of telecommunications systems and their role in modern digital infrastructure.
- Explain the architecture and components of WAN technologies, including routers, switches, modems, and transmission media.
- Identify and compare various WAN protocols and services, such as MPLS, VPN, SD-WAN, Frame Relay, and leased lines.
- Analyze the OSI and TCP/IP models as they apply to WAN environments and data transmission.
- Design and implement WAN topologies (point-to-point, hub-and-spoke, full mesh) based on organizational needs.
- Understand and configure routing protocols such as OSPF, EIGRP, and BGP in a WAN context.
- Apply network security principles for WAN, including encryption, firewalls, and secure tunneling.
- Monitor and troubleshoot WAN performance issues using diagnostic tools and metrics (e.g., latency, jitter, packet loss).
- Integrate voice and video over WAN using technologies like VoIP and QoS (Quality of Service).
- Evaluate and plan for WAN scalability, availability, and future technology trends (e.g., 5G backhaul, cloud WANs).
