Training Course Objectives:
By the end of this Port Facility Security Officer (PFSO) training course, delegates will be able to:
- Understand the roles and responsibilities of a Port Facility Security Officer (PFSO) as outlined in the ISPS Code.
- Interpret and implement the requirements of the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code.
- Conduct port facility security assessments (PFSA) to identify vulnerabilities and threats.
- Develop, implement, and maintain an effective Port Facility Security Plan (PFSP) in line with national and international regulations.
- Coordinate security measures with ships, port authorities, and government agencies to ensure compliance and operational security.
- Implement access control procedures, monitoring systems, and restricted area management.
- Respond effectively to security incidents and breaches, including drills and emergency preparedness exercises.
- Manage security personnel and ensure proper training and awareness within the port facility.
- Maintain proper documentation and records for audits and inspections by relevant authorities.
- Ensure the port facility is prepared for security levels 1, 2, and 3 as defined under the ISPS Code.
- Recognize and address potential threats, including terrorism, piracy, smuggling, and cyber threats to port facilities.
- Foster a security-conscious culture across all port facility operations and stakeholders.
